Social Studies bring the world to the classroom as students study geography, the family, local community organizations, the global community, and particular historical periods. Class discussions, projects that revolve around the child's community, current events, observation skills, and oral reporting are stressed at each level. Students gradually appreciate what it means to be a citizen in a small group, such as a classroom or a town, and in a larger entity, such as a country or the world.
