The primary purpose of the Lower School physical education program is to provide opportunities for students to lead healthy, physically active lifestyles. Students participate in activities that are physically wholesome, mentally stimulating, and socially sound. Cooperative and competitive games are fun and also develop coordination and athletic skills.

An introduction to athletic competition is presented through age-appropriate activities that spiral through the grades. Fifth grade students join sixth grade students on seasonal teams in soccer, basketball, hockey, lacrosse, baseball, and tennis for age-appropriate competition, stressing participation and sportsmanship, with neighboring schools.
