In Middle School, a student may continue French from the Lower School or begin French or Spanish in grade six. New students may begin a language in seventh grade. The Middle School foreign language program stresses meaningful and accurate communication through a variety of classroom activities that channel the energy and enthusiasm of Middle Schoolers. Students learn to use what they know to develop strong elementary listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Students also study the cultures of the people whose language they are learning. Students who satisfactorily complete a foreign language sequence in Middle School begin at Level II in grade nine.
