Boys' tennis sees a return of the core of last year's team, Alex Schidlovsky, George Gage, Stefan Hamaway (seniors), along with talented underclassmen, Alex Snow '14, Cameron Daniels '14, Edward Xin '14, Neil Nelanuthala '13, Evan Solomon '13, and Hussain Khalfan '14. Augmenting this solid group are Jeremy Bracco '15, Kyle Flowers '14, Brandon Fusaro '14, Todd Adonailo '15, and Brandon Fortunato '14, all superb athletes who will contribute to the winning ways of Portledge. The boys look to repeat as ACIS champions and add the IPPSAL crown to their achievements.

Turn right onto Duck Pond Road. Follow to end. Turn left at traffic light at bottom of hill (Cedar Swamp Road). At end, merge left onto Glen Cove Road.
Continue on Glen Cove Road, cross over 25A, the LIE, and at the next light make a right onto I.U. Willets Road. Make an immediate left onto the Northern State Parkway, bear right for the Meadowbrook Parkway South. Turn onto the Southern State Parkway West. Take this to Exit 19 (South - Penninsula Blvd). Stay on Penninsula Blvd for about six miles. Make left onto Woodmere Blvd. Proceed about three blocks, Lawrence Woodmere is on the left. |
Boys tennis defeated Lawrence Woodmere 3 - 2 in a close match. Winning all three singles matches, Alex Schidlovsky '12 (1st), Alex Snow '14 (2nd) and David Lustberg '15 (3rd) won 8 - 1, 8 - 2, and 8 - 4 respectively. Doubles teams had a rougher go, with Stefan Hamaway '12 and Edward Xin '13 losing 5 - 8 and Neil Nelanuthala '13 and Hussain Khalfan '14 also falling 5 - 8. This first match of the season bodes well for Portledge. Next match is Wednesday, Aplril 11 at Kew Forest's courts at the Forest Hills West Side Tennis center. |

Portledge boys' Tennis defeated Freinds Seminary, 4-1 in a match at the West Side tennis Club today. Winning first singles 6 - 0, 6 - 1, Alex Schidlovsky '12 got the ball rolling. Schidlovsky was followed by Cameron Daniels '14 at second singles, 6- 0, 6 - 3. At thrid singles,George Gage '12 won, 6 - 3, 6 - 1. In doubles, the young team of Alex Snow '14 and David Lustberg '15 put together a stellar performance, winning 6 - 1, 6 - 2. Not quite so triumphant, Neil Nelauthala '12 and Stefan Hamaway '12 lost 2 - 6, 1 - 6, but the twosome gave it their best and won the fans with quickness and savvy. Portledge is now 2-0 on the season with the next match again at West Side Tennis against Kew Forest on Wednesday. |

Portledge was defeated by a depleted boys tennis team in a match with Staten Island Academy, 1 - 4. Cameron Daniels '14 played top notch at 1st singles, but lost to an equally talented player, 1 - 6, 3 - 6. George Gage '12 also faced a solid player and lost 0 - 6, 0 - 6, as did Josh Gottlieb '15, playing his first match at 3rd singles. In doubles, Alex Snow '14 and David Lustberg '15 remain undefeated by winning 7 - 5, 6 - 0. Second doubles players Stefan Hamaway '12 and Hussain Khalfan '14 put up a good fight but lost 1 - 6, 3 - 6. Portledge now stands at 3 - 2 with next Wednesday's and Thursday's matches at home. |

Portledge boys tennis returned the favor by beating Knox in a home match Wednesday, April 18. The score of 3 - 2 reversed Knox's win last week, and puts Portledge back in the mix for the IPPSAL championships. At first singles, Alex Schidlovsky '12 dominated his opponent, 8 - 1, and at second singles, Cameron Daniels '14 bested his Knox opponent 8 - 0. At third singles George Gage '12 won, 8 - 4. That was all it took, for the first doubles team of Alex Snow '14 and David Lustberg '15 were playing under a penalty flag for an infringement of practice proticol and, although winning 8 - 2, were declared in forfeiture. At second doubles, the first-time players Evan Solomon '13 and Todd Adonailo '15 lost 2 - 8. Portledge now stands in a tie for first place in the IPPSAL standings with a 4 - 1 record (4 - 2 overall). The next match this Thursday, April 19 against Solomon Schechter at home. |

We beat the boys tennis team from Solomon Schechter in a home match today, 5 - 0. Wing at first singles, Alex Schidlovsky '12 kept his record perfect, winning in fine form, 8 - 0. At second singles,Cameron Daniels '14 kept his record perfect as well, winning 8 - 2. George Gage '12 won for the second day in a row at 3rd singles, 8 - 3. In doubles Alex Snow '14 and David Lustberg '15 polished off their Schechter opponents, 8 - 1. Finally, at second doubles, Stefan Hamaway '12 and Hussain Khalfan '14 broke into the win column, 8 - 3. Portledge now boasts a 5 - 2 record with the next match here on Monday against Columbia Prep. |

Portledge boys tennis lost to Columbia Prep on Monday, April 23, 2 - 3. Not all the matches were as close as the first doubles pairing of Alex Snow '14 and David Lustberg '15 who lost a heartbreaker 6 - 2, 2 - 6, 1 - 6. The second team of Neil Nelauthala '13 and Brandon Fortunado '14 also lost a close match, in a tiebreaker 4 - 6, 6 - 7 (7-1). The Portledge first and second singles players had definitive wins, 6 - 0 - 6 - 1 for Alex Schidlovsky '12 at first singles, and 6 - 0, 6 - 0 for Cameron Daniels'14 in second singles. George Gage '12 played some of the best tennis of his career, only to lost 4 - 6, 3 - 6. Portledge now sports a 5 - 3 record with its next match against United Nations International School on home courts on Thursday. |

Once again, Portledge boys defeated Solomon Schechter, 5-0 in a tennis match on Monday, April 30, Both 1st and 2nd singles players, Alex Schidlovsky '12 and Cameron Daniels '14 won 8 - 0, and, in a solid display of placing shots, 3rd singles player George Gage '12 won 8 - 5. Both doubles teams also blanked their opponents. At 1st doubles Alex Snow '14 and David Lustberg '15 won 8 - 0, and at 2nd doubles, Neil Nelanuthala '13 and Stefan Hamaway '12 won 8 - 0. Portledge now boasts a record of 7 - 3 with three more matches schedule this week. |

Boys' tennis defeated Berkeley Carroll today, 4 - 1. In 1st singles, Alex Schidlovsky '12 continued his winning ways, 6- 0 , 6 - 1. Meanwhile, Cameron Daniels '14 won at 2nd singles, 6 - 0, 6 - 0. George Gage '12 had one of his best outings, winning at 3rd singles, 6 - 3, 6 - 1. In first doubles, Hussain Khalfan '13 and Edward Xin '13 kept coming back from being down, but eventually they yielded to their Berkeley Carroll opponents, 4 - 6, 5 - 7. The opponents' second doubes team were out of the coutnry and thus forfeited. The away match at Staten Island Academy tomorrow will test the mettle of the Portlege team, which now stands at 8 wins, 3 losses with ten matches to go. |

On Monday, May 7, for the second time within one week, Portledge boys tennis defeated Berkeley Carroll 4 - 1. The undermanned opponent from Brooklyn fielded only three of five matches, losing first and second singles to Portledge's Alex Snow '14 (6 - 1, 6 - 0) and David Lustberg '15 (6-0, 6 - 0) Thrid singles player Hussain Khalfan '14 stood ready, but no Berkeley Carroll player showed, and Khalfan accepted a 6 - 0, 6 - 0 forfeit. First doubles was a real barn burner, with Neil Nelanuthala '13 and Stefan Hamaway '12 fighting to the end to a touch opponent only to lose 6 - 7 (5 - 7), 3 - 6. Like Khalfan, the second doubles team of Kyle Flowers '14 and Todd Adonailo '15 faced a ghost opponent and accepted a 6 - 0 6 - 0 forfeit. Portledge now owns a 1 0 - 3 season record with three more matches this week and an individuals tournament on Saturday, May 12. |

On Friday, May 12, Portledge defeated Packer Collegiate in tennis, 5 - 0. At 1st singles, Alex Schidlovsky '12 won, 6 - 0 , 6 - 1. At second doubles, Cameron Daniels '14 coasted to a 6 - 0, 6 - 0 win. At 3rd doubles, David Lustberg '15 won, 6 - 0, 6 - 1. In doubles, the first team of Alex Snow '14 and George Gage '12 won 6 - 0, 6 - 0. The 2nd doubles team of Stefan Hamaway '12 and Brandon Fortunado '14 had a relatively easy win in the first set, 6 - 2, and hung on in the second with a 7 - 6 (7-4) win. Portledge has back-to-back matches with Packer Collegiate, playing on Monday, May 14, away. Portledge boys now boast a 12 - 3 record. |
