Course Summary
The eighth grade history course holds a skills-based learning objective that requires the students to be accountable and responsible for their thoughts and interactions with the curriculum. Throughout the year students will study major events and time periods between the Civil War to the Cold War that will no doubt raise questions and discussion. While the goal is to create independent thinkers and inventive collaboration, the eighth graders will find constant support and guidance while navigating such unknown waters. This course is designed to help strengthen and enhance reading, writing, comprehension and presentation skills in the context of studying American history.

Eighth graders will be responsible for reading newspapers and providing current events on a daily basis. Additionally, they will be assessed through a multitude of learning techniques such as group projects, individual studies, writing assignments, daily homework, tests, quizzes, DBQs and news reports.
