Welcome to the Lower School Computer Lab!

Ms. Karen Mucciaccio runs the program for Lower School including Pre-Kindergarten to Fifth grade. Students are treated to a well-rounded technological curriculum including word processing, spreadsheets, slide show and story presentation, Internet usage and safety, as well as keyboarding among other new and exciting adventures.

Pre-Kindergarten – students remaining in the afternoon stay program visit the computer lab one time 30-minute class per week. The program consists of keyboard exploration, one-day activities and use of educational software enhancing the class curriculum.

Kindergarten – students visit the computer lab for one 30-minute session per week in one class group or two smaller sections. We focus on learning the basics of word processing, projects related to their class curriculum and the occasional use of educational software in phonics and math.

1st through 3rd Grade – students visit the computer lab for one 40-minute scheduled class to learn skills in utilizing the computer and creating documents, spreadsheets, timelines, storybooks and so much more. Keyboarding is also set up by grade level and students will come to practice keyboarding a few times per week in addition to their regular classes for a concentrated eight to ten week period.

4th and 5th Grade – students visit the computer lab on an open scheduling basis for one to three periods per week ranging from 30 minutes to an hour. These grades put to use their computer skills on various projects based on class curriculum, individual interest and special topics.

Students should leave a set of audio headphones labeled with their name in the computer lab. All headphones should be placed in a zip-style plastic bag along with a personal-size hand sanitizer for use before class. There are loaner headphones available however, students are most satisfied with the style and fit of personally selected headphones from home.
