There's nothing like the loving bond that exists between a child and his or her grandparents!

Portledge School celebrated its annual tradition of Grandparents and Special Friends Day on May 14th with refreshments and a very special musical assembly presented by each grade in the Lower School. This was followed by classroom visits during which grandparents shared learning activities with their grandchildren. The children also brought their grandparents and special friends to the final day of the spring book fair. It's hard to tell who had more fun - the students or their "older" loved one!

Mrs. Schlegel’s & Mr. Wisotsky’s classes worked together to create the annual “Dinner Party Project” art installation.

This installation is based on the original work designed by Judy Chicago, whose project is currently on display in the Brooklyn Museum’s Elizabeth A. Sackler Center. Ms. Chicago’s work is comprised of a table in the shape of an equilateral triangle, an emblem of equality. The table holds 39 individual place settings, including, a plate, a goblet and a table runner for each guest which celebrates the individual accomplishments of an actual or mythical woman from history.

Portledge fifth graders selected an American president as the subject for their works and each decorated a plate, goblet and place mat in a manner that celebrates the president’s achievements while in office. Read the biography reports about each president honored in this art installation.
