Mrs. Schlegel’s & Mr. Wisotsky’s classes worked together to create the annual “Dinner Party Project” art installation.
This installation is based on the original work designed by Judy Chicago, whose project is currently on display in the Brooklyn Museum’s Elizabeth A. Sackler Center. Ms. Chicago’s work is comprised of a table in the shape of an equilateral triangle, an emblem of equality. The table holds 39 individual place settings, including, a plate, a goblet and a table runner for each guest which celebrates the individual accomplishments of an actual or mythical woman from history.
Portledge fifth graders selected an American president as the subject for their works and each decorated a plate, goblet and place mat in a manner that celebrates the president’s achievements while in office. Read the biography reports about each president honored in this art installation.
