Students Entering Third Grade Students are required to read 3 books: Going, Going, Gone! with Pain and the Great One by Judy Blume and Two other books from the recommended reading list   Please use this reading log to keep track of books read.

Required Summer Reading Project Based on Going, Going, Gone! With Pain and the Great One by Judy Blume. In the book, the “Pain” and the “Great One” have many summer adventures.  After you read this book, use your imagination to create two T-shirts and write about their experiences. On one side of a piece of paper (loose leaf size, about 8 in. x 10 ½ in.) create a colorful T-shirt design which shows at least four different experiences that the “Pain” had in this book. The T-shirt should be the size of the paper. Cut the T-shirt out. On another sheet of lined paper write a detailed summary of the “Pain’s “ four experiences that you choose to illustrate.  Write at least eight sentences that tell about the experiences.  Attach the written summary to the back of your T-shirt. One side will have the wonderful T-shirt you designed the other side will have your written summary of the “Pain’s” experiences. AND After finishing the T-shirt for the “Pain”, design a T-shirt for the “Great One” .  Remember to use four different experiences and write at least eight sentences describing the experiences. You have also been asked to select two other books to read this summer from the recommended list.  On a separate lined piece of paper write the titles and authors of the books you read.  Write your name on the top of the paper. Please bring the two t-shirts and the list on the first day of school. Enjoy Your Summer Reading!
