Portledge School Commends National Merit Scholars

Harry Grzelewski, Upper School Division Head, of Portledge School in Locust Valley, announced that Allison Herzig and Isabella Muratore have advanced to Finalist standing in the 2012 National Merit® Scholarship Program. They were recognized at an Upper School assembly where they were presented with certificates of achievement.

Both students had earned Semi-Finalist status in the fall based on their Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®). They are among 15,000 Finalists who are now eligible for 8,400 Merit Scholarships worth $34 million.

Steven Hahn, Head of School, said, “The Portledge faculty applauds Allison and Isabella for their outstanding academic accomplishments, and we are confident they will continue to be successful at college and beyond.”   Portledge is an independent school with students in pre-nursery through 12th grade. The three divisions highlight strong student-teacher relationships, and, as stated in its mission, the highly qualified faculty prides itself on ”inspiring students to realize their individual potential, learn critical academic skills, develop moral courage, and prepare for further learning and global citizenship.”
