Portledge Teachers Take Harvard Graduate Course

Teachers at the Portledge Lower School are participating in an online graduate course at Harvard University, known as Harvard WideWorld. The main goal of the Harvard WideWorld course is to develop teachers into 21st century learners. New methods and technologies are taught so teachers will stay current in cutting edge pedagogy.  The focus of the course is to improve instruction through understanding of 21st century skills.  This is a global course that connects teachers from not only all over the United States, but across the world.

Lower School Division Head, Alan D. Cohen, is an advisory board member at the Principal’s Center at Harvard University. Mr. Cohen said, “It is extremely important to instill new and improved strategies in teaching creativity and in improving critical thinking skills in students. The Harvard online experience allows teachers to share their experiences across the globe and creates flexibility and convenience in taking a graduate course. It also allows us to network with world famous innovative educators.” Seventeen Portledge teachers are taking advantage of this extraordinary opportunity!
