We seek students whose potential and academic achievement indicate they will benefit from our program at Portledge. There are six steps in the admissions process:
1. Receipt of Registration for Application form and $50.00 application fee per student.
2. Receipt of additional application forms.
3. Receipt of the candidate's transcript and other relevant references.
4. An interview with the applicant and at least one parent.
5. A visit for one or more school days as arranged with the Director of Admissions.
6. Admissions testing: early childhood applicants are evaluated
during a morning visit; applicants for first through sixth grades
are tested at Portledge; applicants for grades seven through eleven
are required to take the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT).
SSAT examinations are administered in November, December, January,
February, March, April and June. Students must register to take the
SSAT; registration materials are available from the Secondary School
Admission Test Board
at www.ssat.org. November, December or January test dates
are encouraged.
