Online instruction for our students will continue on Monday, March 30.
All Portledge teachers and administration are working full-time remotely to create meaningful learning experiences for our students. Below you will find various resources to help your child/ren navigate the temporary campus closure.
Please ensure that you have completed the online permission slips for your child/ren to participate in online learning. Log into MyPortledge to access the forms, if you have not already done so.
I know, at this time of constant flux, information is coming in a myriad of ways. I wanted to make sure that all involved with the Portledge School IB program, understand the expectations moving forward.
As the official letter attached below from IB states, the May Exam Session is canceled. However, please realize that earning the Diploma or Course Certificate will now be largely based on the Internal Assessments submitted to IB. For those completing work this year (all 12th-grade Diploma Candidates, 12th grade Course Candidates, and 11th graders enrolled in ESS), please be aware that deadlines for IA work have been extended to May 20th, and your teachers have been informed to focus on this work in lieu of exam preparation. Do not assume that the Diploma or a Certificate will be awarded without these assessments, as the IB has rigorous standards and focuses heavily on the work done throughout the course program. The IB will still be assessing all Extended Essays, TOK essays, and course work submitted throughout the end of this year, as well as completion of CAS projects, the deadline of which has been extended to July 3.
All IB teachers will follow up with students and provide them with a clear schedule of what needs to be completed and all relevant deadlines. Fortunately, for most of our students, this part of the process is at, or near to, an end. I will also hold a special Google Meet for all IB students on March 30th at 3:45 pm to ensure we all understand the expectations moving forward, parents are welcome to sit in on this meeting.
On a personal note, I am very proud of the accomplishments achieved thus far by Portledge students and the incredible work of our faculty. We continue to set high expectations and make the best of this situation. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
