Portledge School is committed to protecting the privacy of members of our community and those who come in contact with and/or interact with the school. The School has put into place procedures that help safeguard personal information provided to the School by members of our community and individuals not directly affiliated with the School. Unfortunately, even the very best of plans may result in an inadvertent disclosure as such, we have drafted guidelines to assist the community in protecting personal information.

  • Use of Personal Information 

    The School collects personal information provided by sending an email to the School, when an individual participates in a survey, or completes an online form. Personal information provided to the School is not shared with non-affiliated third parties unless otherwise stated at the time of collection. When a user submits personally identifiable information, it is used only for the purpose stated at the time of collection.
  • Consent

    At the beginning of each year, the School asks for consent for photography and publishing student names. The form is completed through myPortledge, and the school follows the responses in this form. If you change your mind during the school year, please email communications@portledge.org. In cases where the consent for the use and disclosure of other personal information is required, or a media request is made, the School will seek consent from the appropriate person. In the case of a student’s personal information, the School will seek consent from the student and/or parent/guardian depending on the circumstances at hand and the student’s age and ability to consent to the proposed use and disclosure.
  • Cookies

    A cookie is a small text file stored by a browser that allows the website to “remember” a user’s preferences, such as calendar settings and site bookmarks on the site from visit to visit. The usage of a cookie is not linked to any personally identifiable information while on our site. Web browsers have settings allowing users to reject cookies, or selectively accept cookies, or delete cookies previously accepted. Please be aware that rejecting or deleting cookies from our website may make certain functions unavailable to the user.

    The School is committed to protecting the personal and confidential information of the users of our website. When users submit personal and or confidential information via online forms, registration, or online purchase, upon submission, that information is encrypted via the SSL (Secured Sockets Layer) the system is set up so that credit card numbers are not permanently stored on our website servers.

    The School’s goal is to ensure the ease of use and ability to address the needs of the School community through our website. Like most standard website servers, the School uses website statistic packages such as Google Analytics to analyze trends in how our website is accessed and utilized. Information monitored includes Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, geographic location of visitors (country, city), browser type, Internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, time spent on pages, and keywords used to find our site via search engines. This information is anonymous and cannot be directly linked to individual users.     Comments to blogs and social media are viewable by other users. Please be aware of this when posting personal information in these areas. The School monitors the website and other areas where postings may occur and retains the right to remove such postings that are inconsistent with the School’s culture, mission, and the best interest of the students.
