Holly Simon and Anna Bloch Triumph in National Merit Scholarship

Holly Simon and Anna Bloch have achieved an outstanding accomplishment by securing the prestigious National Merit  Scholarship. This scholarship, funded by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), recognizes their exceptional academic achievements. Among the roughly 16,000 students who participated in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program, Holly and Anna stood out as winners.

To obtain this scholarship, Holly and Anna met rigorous criteria, including submitting a detailed application and demonstrating outstanding academic performance. Approximately 7,140 students were chosen to receive this esteemed scholarship from the vast group of finalists.

"I'm honored to have been named a National Merit Scholar because it demonstrates so much respect and regard for the work awardees put into academics," remarked Holly, reflecting on the significance of this achievement. "In the modern world, many academic honors are somewhat random, especially the unpredictable process of college admissions which has dominated most of the last two years for me and my graduating class. But National Merit honors are a clearer, more straightforward acknowledgment of students' academic excellence, and therefore something I am confident I earned and feel very comfortable being very proud of."

The NMSC will formally acknowledge their achievement by sending them a certificate in late spring. Portledge, let us extend our sincere congratulations to Holly and Anna for their hard work, well-deserved success, and for embodying our four pillars of Kindness, Honor, Purpose, and Respect. To our 2024 National Merit Scholarship recipients, Holly and Anna!
