Portledge in the Now.

Home Opener

It was a tough home opener for the Varsity Boys Basketball team as they lost to Knox by a convincing score. This matchup looked tough, as the height and athleticism of Knox just overpowered that of the Panthers. However, with the additions of Zaire Baines '22, Aazayah Ross '22, and Jahmir Primer '21, this team continues to be fun to watch as their love and passion for the game was truly brought out, even in a game where the Panthers were down by 40 points at one point. With these three young stars combined with the rest of the strong players on the roster including Angel Singh ‘19, Spencer Kaye ‘18, Paul Sanon ‘18, Jason Newman ‘19, Brandon Vella ‘19, and Kevin Ross ‘20, the team looks strong and has become a cohesive unit this season. New coach Nick Tsikitas is confident about his squad's potential. Coach Tsikitas remarked, “Even though their (Ross, Baines, and Primer) games are completely different, their team first attitude will help not only build a foundation at Portledge, but in my opinion a dynasty.” Well it certainly looks possible as the Portledge Panthers next take to the court during a Saturday afternoon tournament at Portledge School. The final from Wednesday’s contest Knox 110 and Portledge 65.
