Portledge vs. St. Anthony's JV

On a bitter cold but sunny Spring day at the beautiful Piping Rock Club, the Portledge Boys Golf team got revenge on St. Anthony’s and won their home opener after being on the road for their first 4 matches.
Sebastian Tate ‘23 had his lowest round as a Panther thus far and shared medalist honors with teammate Payne Plum ‘23, with a great round of 42. With this score both Tate ‘23 & Plum ‘23 scored a match point for Portledge. Tanner Flood ‘21 and Ross Klein ‘21 battled the entire matches and kept them close, but ended up coming up a bit short. Pivotal the team’s victory was Carter Biondi ‘22 who tied his opponent with a very respectable 54, again in the windy conditions, a 3 or 4 club wind. Biondi ‘22 scored ½ point for Portledge. Cole Balacek ‘19 had the Portledge spirit and fight but fell to his talented St. Anthony’s opponent.
The team takes on powerhouse Chaminade at Nassau Country Club next and hope to notch another “W”.
Final score 5.5 to 3.5
