Portledge in the Now.

Recap vs. Avenues

The Varsity Golf team had back to back perfect days to have a golf match, only difference from yesterday being Portledg dug out the 'W'. The team played at the picturesque Glen Cove Golf Club, and the course was in very good condition, despite the tumultuous weather we have faced this past month.

Playing in the #1 spot was steady 7th grader, Payne Plum. He won his match 2-up with 1 hole to play and was only 3 over. Coach Penne witnessed a beautiful shot on the 3rd hole par 3, where Payne stuck in 3 feet and sank the putt for birdie.

John Zhang, George Anderson, and Sallie Bell Moore all scored a half a point by finishing their matches all even.
Christopher Lall and Christopher Chiu recorded outright wins in their match, scoring 1 point each, contributing to the team's 4 ½ point victory.  Avenues were able to muster 2 ½ points in their efforts.

Gwen Jones continues to improve. She hit some fabulous shots, including a rip straight down the middle of the fairway off the first tee with everyone looking on.

Congratulations to the team on a great victory! They look for revenge against Brunswick Thursday 5/3 as they travel to Westchester and play at the beautiful Round Hill Country Club.
