Portledge Language Honor Society Welcomes New Members in Induction Ceremony

In early March, Upper School students eagerly awaited the induction ceremony of the Portledge Language Honor Society. The newest additions to the Society's organization were: Avery J.'26, Carsyn C.'26, Chloe F.'26, Cole S.'26, Jiajun L.'26, Olga M.'26, Prajna J.'26, and Rowan S.'26.

Illuminated by candles, the already-inducted members paved the way for the newcomers, symbolically lighting their path to the stage. The ceremony unfolded with each inductee sharing wisdom about a language role model, reflecting on their background, and reciting the Portledge Language Honor Society pledge in the language they are studying.

Liberata Kadende, International Baccalaureate French Teacher at NYC Department of Education's Baccalaureate School for Global Education, the keynote speaker, graced the podium and beautifully spoke about the importance of language in our ever-changing world. She unveiled the truth that language serves as the bridge that unites us all.

As the ceremony concluded, the newly inducted members held the same candles as the already inductees at the commencement and departed Bahnik Hall as a unified society. Congratulations to the newest Portledge Honor Society Inductees!
