Portledge in the Now.

Impactful

Charlotte Murrell '21
In my nine years at Portledge, I can wholeheartedly say that the IB was the most impactful part of my time as a student.

Before the Diploma Programme, my confidence in my academic ability was lacking, and I remember being hesitant to push myself to take more rigorous classes. However, the combination of dedicated teachers and a close-knit IB community transformed me into someone who now loves stepping out of her comfort zone. As I enter my last year of college, I no longer choose classes or extracurricular engagements based on whether I think I might “succeed” in them or not, but by the interest that they spark. I think the IB DP taught me, more than anything, the importance of interdisciplinary, lifelong learning – and how enjoyable said learning is when you have a supportive community alongside you. As I now prepare to enter another four years of schooling after college, I'm confident that these values will carry with me, and I will always look fondly back on where they started.
