Congratulations to Portledge School senior Max Scalamandre for his commitment to Penn State for swimming! Scalamandre ‘19, has been swimming since he was 7, and is most excited about the overall athletics program at Penn State and the exciting student atmosphere. He is most confident in the backstroke and IM and we can’t wait to hear about his accomplishments for the next 4 years! Congratulations Max!
Portledge School was proud to host the second consecutive Boston College Eagle Elite Girls Lacrosse Camp on Tuesday, June 26, 2018. The exciting day of lacrosse saw over 90 girls from around the tri-state area join together on the beautiful Portledge campus to hone and further develop their on-field skills in a four hour clinic hosted by the coaching staff and players of the 2-time consecutive NCAA Division I Runners Up, Boston College Eagles. The day included small group skill sessions, position specific drills, and circuit training for a group of youngsters that hope to one day play NCAA College Lacrosse. The partnership between Portledge School and Boston College Womens Lacrosse is a strong one that both institutions hope to further in the coming years.
This year Portledge Athletics celebrated their highest achieving student athletes. They inducted one student into the 5th Year Club, two students into the 6th Year Club, and three students into the Varsity Club. Congratulations to all and thank you for your dedication to Portledge Athletics!
This Spring the Portledge Athletic Department retired the soccer jersey of Marissa Stanco ‘18. Stanco ‘18 wore # 21 during her four years at Portledge School and not only contributed to the girls soccer program, but athletics at Portledge as a whole, which earned her the Senior Athletic Award. The Varsity Boys Tennis team earned the 2018 PSAA Championship title after defeating Avenues: The World School in a nail-biting 3-2 win on May 17, 2018.

This Spring, Marissa Stanco '18 was awarded the Senior Athletic Award for her contributions to Portledge School's Athletics and its growing success. She is a tremendous athlete and well-rounded individual who helped the teams she participated on achieve amazing accomplishments.
After defeating Martin Luther 9-1 in the PSAA semifinal on Thursday May 10th, the Portledge Panthers Varsity Softball team looked to repeat this result in the PSAA Championship Game. A rainy Monday morning gave way to a beautiful afternoon at Portledge School, where pitcher and playoff MVP Carly Kleinwaks ‘18 and her fellow Lady Panthers looked to capture the PSAA Championship for the second year in a row. Portledge faced off against the 1 seed, Solomon Schechter. The Panthers were victorious, ultimately defeating Schechter 14-2, after scoring 9 runs in the 3rd inning.
On Thursday, April 12 the strong hockey culture at Portledge School was on full display as students and faculty came together to support the tragic loss felt by Humboldt Hockey. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those impacted by this devastating loss. #prayforhumboldt

Congratulations to Jeremy Wilmer ’21 on his commitment to play hockey at Boston University. In 13 games played this year, his first with the Panthers, Wilmer has 15 goals and 24 assists for 39 points, including setting a school record 9 point (4g, 5a) outburst vs. The Hun School on 1/24. The highly skilled forward has an innate ability to create tremendous offensive chances from the smallest of opportunities. Congratulations to Jeremy and his family!
Zaire Baines ’22 scored 50 points on 1/24 vs. Avenues: The World School becoming only the 4th Long Island High School Basketball player in history to tally two 50+ point games in a single season (source: LIBasketball.com). Baines scored a school record 53 points on 1/18 vs. Kew Forest to start his torrid week of scoring as he has amassed 140 points in the three games the team has played this week. Best of luck to Zaire and the boys moving forward through the rest of the season and into the playoffs!

Huge congratulations to Brandon Chabrier ‘20 for his commitment to Northeastern University! Chabrier came to Portledge in 8th grade and has been a huge asset to the Varsity Boys Hockey program. The smooth skating puck moving defenseman looks to lead the Panthers to a big season this winter. Congrats ‘Chabs’!
