Portledge in the Now.

Portledge @ Poly Prep

Tuesday April 23 the Varsity Boys Golf team traveled far into Brooklyn to the beautiful Dyker Beach Golf Club to challenge the much larger school, Poly Prep.

In the top position, Payne Plum ‘23, with a twisted ankle, shot a 46 and tied his opponent. Sebastian Tate ‘23 continues to play solid golf this season, carding a full point for the team after shooting a 48. Ross Klein ‘21 continues to improve, as well as Demetri Passelis ‘23, even though both Panthers came up a bit short in their matches. Marco Passelis ‘24 battled for his school but also ended up finishing a bit short. The star of the day was Carter Biondi ‘22. He played his best match thus far this season, played to his potential, and was in his zone. With 4 or 5 pars, he played steady and smart. Biondi ‘22 was not only victorious against his opponent, but was medalist with a 44, beating the entire field. He collected 3 points alone. This strong play allowed the team to tie the match and ride home feeling solid about their day.
