Understanding Standardized Testing

Middle School - Bahnik Hall - MSBH
This informational evening will help families make sense of the standardized testing landscape and will address important concerns such as the differences between the SAT and ACT, how to choose the exam best suited for an individual student, how to plan a testing calendar, the role of Subject Tests in the admissions process and more.

Adam Ingersoll, founder of Compass Testing, is a nationally regarded expert in the field of standardized testing. Compass has partnerships with many schools in the NYC area including Horace Mann, The Dalton School, and The Chapin School. In addition, he is a featured speaker at the National Conference for College Admissions Counselors and is known for his student-centered, ethical, objective approach to test preparation. We are very lucky that he is able to speak with us at Portledge School this year.

This program may be particularly helpful for 10th and 11th grade families whose students will be getting their PSAT and preACT scores back by mid December, and will then look to use those results to determine their next steps in standardized test preparation, but it is also open to 9th grade families who want to learn more now about the upcoming college admissions exams.
