Portledge in the Now.

Message form our Head of School, Simon Owen-Williams

The Class of 2025, one of our largest graduating classes, has been a thoughtful, spirited, and joyful presence at Portledge. As they move forward, they leave behind a lasting legacy—one shaped by growth, resilience, and meaningful contributions to our evolving campus and programs, as well as a deep feeling of involvement. While they witnessed many changes during their time here, we hope they recognize how these changes sublimated their experience and strengthened our school.
It was an honor to speak at their Graduation and to reflect on their impressive achievements. Members of the Class of 2025 will continue their journeys this fall at a wide range of impressive institutions–each a reflection of their hard work, dedication, and character. We send them off with pride, admiration, and heartfelt congratulations.

This year also marked significant milestones for our entire community. We celebrated our 60th anniversary, completed our decennial Accreditation Visit, and honored our traditions while looking boldly toward the future. As we plan our next strategic vision, we aim to build on the strong foundation laid by our last four strategic plans, elevating Portledge for sustained success academically and programmatically.

We will spend the summer crafting our next Strategic Plan, but for now, as summer begins, I encourage students to continue learning, exploring, and most importantly, recharging. Rest is vital to growth, and I hope this season offers time to reconnect, reflect, and prepare for what’s next.

Please join me in celebrating our rising sixth and ninth graders and, of course, our remarkable seniors. And thank you to our parent community—your support makes everything we do possible. We look forward to welcoming new families and reuniting with you all in the fall.

Before we set off for summer, I urge you to heed the advice of members of the Class of 2025 who shared some guidance for rising seniors that applies to us all: “Appreciate every moment, find balance, have fun, and don’t take anything for granted.”

Wishing you a joyful, restorative summer!

Warmly,

Head of School
