Portledge Girls Hockey led by coach Hills faced off against Rye Country Day School. The Lady Panthers would like to get another win after starting the season with a commanding 4-0 win over Mater Dei Prep. The RCDS Panthers would get on the board first with a goal that got passed the Portledge netminder. Portledge would soon have the answer as Freshman Emma Hayes came in with speed and had a beautiful goal to lock the score at one apiece. Portledge would break the tie with 2:09 left in the first frame, with another freshman getting on the scoresheet. This time it was Ava Salerno who scored a shorthanded goal assisted by Emma Hayes. RCDS would tie the game at 2 in the second period off of a careless turnover by Portledge. The 2 teams would be knotted at 2 for the rest of the 2nd period. As the teams came out of the dressing rooms and the puck was dropped Portledge took control of the game with goals from who else but Emma Hayes and Ava Salerno as Portledge cruised to a 4-2 victory over RCDS. Portledge goalie Anna Hamid had 16 saves on the night as Portledge improved its record to 2-0-0.
