What you need to know for the new school year.

Dear Lower School Families,

We are excited to welcome you to the 2023-2024 school year and to have your children back on campus soon! One of the most rewarding aspects of life as an educator at Portledge is partnering with families to foster each child’s academic, social, and emotional growth each year. Your child’s success is our greatest reward as educators. We anticipate that your child will enjoy coming to school each day, develop lasting friendships, and make outstanding academic growth this year. We look forward to partnering with you to achieve these goals. 

Lower School hours for the 2023-2024 school year will be 8:20 a.m. - 3:15 p.m., with drop off from 7:45 a.m. - 8:15 a.m. Students will go to their homerooms at 8:15 a.m. and classes will begin promptly at 8:20 a.m. Lower School students have math first thing in the morning; therefore, timeliness is important for both your child’s learning and the learning of others. Faculty/staff will be present during the drop-off window to assist the children as needed. Student pick-up will be from 3:15 p.m. - 3:45 p.m. each day in front of the Lower School building; students will be escorted to their cars/buses by faculty and staff.

  • We invite new parents to attend the New Family Orientation on Thursday, August 31st from 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. in the Lower School Library (including classroom visit time). 

  • We invite all families, new and returning, to join us on Thursday, August 31st for a Welcome Back BBQ from 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Classrooms will be open and teachers will be available to greet you and your child from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and the BBQ will take place on the playground from 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. This is a great opportunity to bring your child to school to see the teachers before the first day, drop off school supplies, and reunite with the Portledge community on the playground. We are excited to host this BBQ event as a new back-to-school Portledge tradition!

Homeroom teacher assignments are now available by logging into myPortledge. We have included the Lower School teaching assignments for the 2023-24 school year on this page.

We look forward to an exciting and productive year and extend a warm and gracious welcome back to you and your children! Enjoy the last weeks of summer, and we will see you soon!
