Interactive Art Workshops

This project of excellence facilitated interactive art workshops where Portledge students designed personal family crests, beautifully bridging artistic expression with school heritage. Collaborating with Mrs. Benter and Mr. Meyers, this senior guided students through brainstorming sessions, using paper cutouts and lightboxes for creative inspiration. The students finalized their designs by writing narratives about their chosen symbols, which ranged from significant family birth years to national flags. This initiative directly mirrors the purpose of the historic Portledge crest, teaching students to view emblems as living testaments to their own roots and values. Furthermore, by celebrating the student body's diverse cultural lineages, the project championed the Portledge citizen pillars of exploring, creating, and excelling. Ultimately, the workshops fostered deep peer connections and mutual respect through the shared vulnerability of visual storytelling.
